You take the Munro and I'll take the Low Ro

40 Years? No the Midsummer Munro hasn't been going that long, but if the Pilgrim Brewery has, that means I could never have drunk their beer as an underage schoolboy. Given the kind of rubbish that was generally sold in pubs when I was an underage schoolboy, I fear I may have been born too early, but then I remember 1970's music so it balances out...

But (as often) I digress.

So, just as with the final Knacker Cracker under Rob's auspices, I feel it incumbent upon me to dust down my blogging tools and write something about the Midsummer Munro as it passes on to its new plane of existence. And I guess the Picnic too while I'm on the subject.

In 2004, Rob launched "The Hardest Half in Britain" on an unsuspecting world, but this was long before we became involved. Indeed, Amanda was not even a runner at that time! She only started jogging to keep warm in the desert of Namibia a year later, and it wasn't until 2008 that she entered her first ever race: the Chessington Valentine's 10k.

And two years on from a fast and (mostly) flat 10k, she's signing up for the 2010 Midsummer Munro! Whatever happened?! Let's look back with just two pictures from each previous year, and then we'll move on to today.

Retrospective...
2024 And All That.
